What it's like to work at Sydecar
We're a tight knit early stage team that's focused on delighting our customers. You're joining early, so you'll have a big part in shaping how we work and who we hire.
Building a strong culture is important to us. We're a distributed team with physical offices in the SF Bay Area, Seattle, and Houston. We reinforce these commitments to team-building through quarterly off-sites, relocation benefits, and work-travel opportunities when face-to-face collaboration is necessary.
About the Role
Sydecar is currently looking for an experienced product manager who is passionate about creating vastly improved standards for how we all interact with private markets. You will be joining us on a mission to enable thousands of new investors to do what they do best — identify and back entrepreneurs who are changing the world.
In a Product Manager role, you will work closely with Sydecar’s Director of Product to manage our suite of products through their full lifecycle, defining the product vision, gathering and prioritizing requirements, and working closely with partners on engineering, design, sales, support, and operations to ensure we are adding value for our customers by turning our vision into a reality.
About You
- You are curious and a relentless problem solver. You are excited to learn about the rapidly changing alternative investment space. You strive to deeply understand customer pain points and are excited to address them with innovative product features. You will not stop until you understand the root of a problem and get to a desired outcome. You love working across teams as you guide products to launch. You're an adaptable jack-of-all-trades who enjoys working across all aspects of product development, from brainstorming ideas with design to gathering statistics on product performance, to getting in the weeds with engineering. You might be stronger in some areas than others, but you're happy to dive in anywhere help is needed to move the product forward to success.
- You know how to ruthlessly prioritize. You are comfortable working with limited information to set objectives, make decisions and own the results. Out of a thousand things we could be working on, you are comfortable planning sprints and product roadmaps by making the hard choices to choose the few swings that have the highest impact, and especially, helping the team understand the tradeoffs and opportunity costs of sequencing choices.
- You constantly seek data and user feedback. You define and analyze metrics to validate your hypotheses and measure impact, but you jump on zoom to talk to real users. You constantly seek to validate your ideas and better understand the real humans using a product.
- You are customer obsessed. You start from the user’s perspective and can’t ship a product with a terrible user experience. Still, you know that the first version of everything is rarely perfect and users will constantly surprise you, so iteration is part of your regular process.
- You know the value of crisp, detailed communication and organization. Your job is to articulate the why as much as the what, and you don’t mind writing well-cataloged documentation and presenting wherever needed.
